A day in the footsteps of Churchill…

We started our private excursion bright and early with an American couple who were huge Churchill fans. Instead of Chartwell we toured the stunning Blenheim, birthplace of the great man in 1874. A magnificent country palace that has a small but interesting museum of Churchill and the very room he was born in, is still preserved, including his baby ringlets!

Lunch was taken at the charming village of Woodstock at a country Inn and then we made our way in to London. The Cabinet War Rooms just off Whitehall are where Sir Winston and his cabinet masterminded the defence of our country and victory over Nazi Germany. The exhibition is wonderful; we can still see his bed and desk where he toiled at most nights.

Finally time for tea and a spot of shopping at Harrods before we returned our guests to their Knightsbridge hotel.
