We collected our clients early form their hotel in one of our chauffeur driven Mercedes Benz, S Class limousines for a private tour of Stonehenge, Salisbury & Bath. Thankfully the air conditioning in the car is ice cold as it was already feeling warm.
Our clients dozed in the sumptuous, fully reclinable, leather rear seats until I gently woke them for some coffee and croissants at family baker we know well at Amesbury.
We then skipped all the lines and made our to one of the most important ancient sites in the world, Stonehenge. We walked amongst the stones just as daybreak arrived before the crowds descended .We marveled at the size and majesty of the stones and debated their reason for being here. Who really knows?
An hour later we arrived at Salisbury and the Cathedral precinct, truly spectacular in every way. The Cathedral was built in the 1200`s in just 30 years and has the tallest spire in the UK. We also paid a visit to one of the World’s few remaining original copies of the Magna Carta of 1215.
After refreshing ourselves it was on to Bath, without doubt the most beautiful city in our country. We toured the city from the luxury of our motor car and crossed Poultney Bridge and drove a round the Royal Crescent. We still had time enough for the Cathedral and the Roman Baths before we had tea at the atmospheric Pump Room and then returned to London.
What an incredible day!
