Queen Elizabeth II`s Windsor & Henry VIII`s Hampton Court

One of my favourite tours! Our family was collected in one of our wonderful Daimler limosines and we made the short journey out to Windsor Castle. The Castle never fails to impress, over a thousand years old and in magnificent condition. We began our tour with the Sate Appartments then on to St. Georges` Chapel and a private tour of the castle precincts. We had plenty of time for souvenir shopping and photographs before our drive through Datchet and the charming village of Eton and it`s wonderful school, Eton College. Lunch was held at one of our favouriute Thames hosteleries, oozing character before we departed for Hampton Court.

An hours drive from Windsor lies Henry viii`s pleasure dome, Hamtpon Court Palace. Of course no waiting in line and we made our way straight in to visit the Tudor kitchens and the Great Hall of Henry. We then made our way on to the sublime Chapel Royal and imagined the Tudor Court at worship. The Palace is split broadly in to 2 halves and after the Tudor buildings we toured the late 17th Century palace of William and Mary. No visit to this great palace would be complete without seeing the gardens and the five hundred year old tennis court.

Finally time for tea before we made our way home. Another perfect day!
