Tour Highlights: Visit the sumptuous interior of Downton Abbey, tour the estate & manicured parklands, the world famous Egyptian Galleries, the breathtaking Cotswold village of Bampton, the wonderful location used for the outside shoots for the TV series and a simply thrilling time at the delightful Downton Abbey museum run by the local villagers at the cottage hospital.

Walk in the footsteps of your favourite characters and instantly recognise scenes from the screen drama. Highclere Castle is the film location for the hugely successful Downton Abbey, which has been nominated for four Golden Globes. A longstanding friend of the Carnarvon family, Julian Fellowes, the author of the show, always had Highclere Castle in mind as he wrote Downton Abbey. He often commented he wanted a house which spectacularly testified to the confidence and soaring optimism of the Edwardian period.

We spend the morning driving through the spectacular Cotswold countryside before arriving at the delightful village of Bampton. We visit Downton hospital, the Dog and Duck and Grantham Arms pubs, the post office, the parish church, Downton Fair , the Crawley residence and Mr. Bate`s pub. We might even dine at The Swan Pub, another famous location scene that we are sure you will find instantly familiar ; this was of course where the naughty Branson attempted an elopement with Lady Sybil.

The afternoon is then spent at the real highlight of our day, the sumptuous Highclere castle where we tour the lavish interior of the house, the parklands and exquisite gardens.

There is time for afternoon tea perhaps or even a visit to the world famous Egyptian galleries. There is some unique souvenir shopping from the official store to be had before we make our way home. What a lovely day!

As with all our tours, if our most popular tour schedules do not suit your specific requirements, please allow us to create a customised itinerary especially for you. We always remember the day is yours to cherish.

“Dear Oliver, A word of thanks to you and Keith for the lovely trip through Bampton and Blenheim Palace. The lunch was excellent as well. Though the weather damage at Highclere changed our original plans, you managed to rescue the day for us and for my husband's birthday. We are very grateful for your help in making it a memorable day. We will be back in the UK in September. If time permits we will be in touch for perhaps another go at Highclere, should they be open to the public then. Many thanks and warm regards, Jacquelynn Morris ” Read more testimonials
