“The palace of the Peaks”

Tour Highlights: Chatsworth House, interior to include state apartments, extensive parklands and estate the glorious Peak District, Hardwick Hall interior and beautiful gardens.

We leave London early and take a traditional English breakfast in the beautiful market town of Bakewell before we make our way onto the magnificent residence of the Duke of Devonshire, Chatsworth House. The current property dates from the 17th Century and has the reputation as the grandest country house in England. We tour the lavish interiors at our leisure then view the splendid gardens, set in the most glorious countryside.

Lunch is taken at one of the Peak District’s rustic inns and then we journey onto one of the most well preserved Tudor mansions, Hardwick Hall, home to the fabulously wealthy Bess of Hardwick. The house is an enduring monument to her success and self belief. The interior is sumptuously decorated and the garden equally impressive.

We take a last glimpse of the breathtaking Peak District, before we travel back to London.

“Dear Oliver, I booked you at less than a weeks notice and still you managed to give our group a bespoke tour of London. You dealt beautifully with both a toddler and a 91 year old and seemed completely unflustered by all our strange last minute (not really in your job description) requests. You listened and adapted things to suit us as we went along, whilst making the whole time fun with your gentle humour. I know that we probably did not give you chance to shine in terms of your knowledge of London, there were several times when we didn’t let you get a word in edgeways. However, we did test your people-skills and I have never met better. Thank you. Please thank Claude for being so patient with us all. Lorna.” Read more testimonials
